Our Guiding Mission “Impressive audio-science-based technology that always concentrates on musicality and the beauty of sound—for everything we build.”
Chapter 1  •  Quick-Start, Installation & Closed-Loop State Machine

Quick-Start, Logic Pro Setup & The 5–10s Smart Learning Lock ([RECALC])

Welcome to the Singularity Audio Labs Studio Suite v3.0. Unlike open-loop “smart” plugins that only measure incoming audio once and apply a blind static preset—or un-gated dynamic processors that continuously pump, drift, and wreck mix balances during quiet song breakdowns—every Singularity processor is built around a Closed-Loop Input ↔ Output Servo governed by a deterministic Listen → Negotiate → Hard-Lock State Machine.

1.1 macOS Installation & Logic Pro Audio Units Setup

  1. Standard macOS Package Install: Once our signed and notarized release installer is published (Downloads Coming Soon), run Singularity-Audio-Labs-Studio-Suite-v3.0.pkg. All 7 Audio Unit v2 (.component) bundles are installed into /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/ (or ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/ for user-level installs) alongside the standalone macOS applications.
  2. Loading in Apple Logic Pro: Open any Audio, Software Instrument, Aux/Bus, or Stereo Out channel strip in Logic Pro (`10.7+` or `11.x` on Apple Silicon `arm64` or Intel). Click an Audio FX insert slot and navigate to:
Audio Units → Singularity Audio Labs → [Select Processor]
  3. Forcing an Audio Unit Cache Rescan (If Logic Pro Was Open During Install): Run the following command in macOS Terminal, or open Logic Pro → Settings → Plug-In Manager and click Reset & Rescan Selection:
    killall -9 AudioComponentRegistrar

1.2 How the 3-Stage Closed-Loop Learning State Machine Works

When you insert any Singularity processor (or a linked chain of processors) and press Play in Logic Pro on an active musical phrase, the processor advances through three deterministic states:

Deterministic Closed-Loop State Machine · Zero Post-Lock Drift (0.000000 Hz/s & dB/s) ITU-R BS.1770-4 Song-Break Gate Protected
State 1 · 0.0s – 1.5s 1. LISTENING (Input/Output Audit)

Measures dual-ended pre-input $x(n)$ and post-output $y(n)$ spectral tilt, $f_0$ pitch harmonic comb, crest factor, and onset velocity while rejecting silence/song breaks.

State 2 · 1.5s – 5.0s (Up to 10s) 2. NEGOTIATING (Motorized Glide)

Executes single-plugin closed-loop servo updates or multi-plugin turn-based negotiation (⚡ TEAM LINK 5-Step Duo / 9-Step Trio, 🥁 DRUM LINK v3.0, or 15-Turn MasterDesk). Knobs glide smoothly on screen.

State 3 · Post-Convergence 3. LOCKED (Zero-Artifact Static DSP)

Freezes all filter poles, crossover gains, and compressor ballistics solid (`0.000000` drift). The processor now behaves like a rock-solid analog hardware unit with 100% manual knob override.

1.3 The ITU-R BS.1770-4 Relative Song-Break Freeze Gate

A notorious failure mode of conventional adaptive plugins occurs during a quiet vocal intro, bridge breakdown, or reverb tail (`-35 dBFS`): the adaptive detector mistakes the quiet passage for a weak signal and cranks gain or drops thresholds by `10–15 dB`. When the chorus slams back in, the track ducks violently for `1.5 seconds`.

Every Singularity Audio Labs processor incorporates an ITU-R BS.1770-4 Relative Song-Break Freeze Gate:

  • Absolute Silence Floor (`< -30.0 LUFS` / `-52 dBFS` RMS): Learning timers and servo integrators pause immediately when transport stops or a track rests.
  • Relative Breakdown Gate (`inLufs < programPeakInLufs - 10.0 dB`): If the current phrase drops more than `10.0 dB` below the track’s established peak program loudness, all integrators freeze in place until the main performance returns.
💡 Studio Rule of Thumb: When Should You Click [RECALC]?
Once a Singularity plugin displays the green LOCKED — ZERO-ARTIFACT STATIC DSP badge in its header bar, it will never secretly move its parameters mid-song. You can grab any motorized knob with your mouse to fine-tune to taste. Click the top-bar [RECALC] button (or [RE-LEARN] on MasterDesk) only when:
  1. You switch to a new Genre / Instrument Sub-Profile or change hardware topology.
  2. You swap the microphone, preamp, guitar pickup, or synth patch feeding the channel.
  3. You initially pressed Play during a sparse intro and now want the plugin to learn on the loudest chorus or full-band groove.
Chapter 2  •  Complete Hardware & Parameter Reference

Control-by-Control Hardware Reference (All 7 Flagship Processors)

Every processor in the Singularity Studio Suite v3.0 pairs physical circuit modeling (`64-Bit ADAA2`, `2x/4x` polyphase oversampling, Newton-Raphson zero-delay feedback solvers, and Jiles-Atherton magnetic hysteresis) with motorized console controls. Below is the complete parameter-by-parameter reference for all 7 plugins.

2.1 Singularity GravityComp — 4-Topology Track & Channel Compressor

Studio Role: Your primary individual track and sub-bus dynamics processor. Combines four classic hardware compression circuits—Rev A “Blue Stripe” FET, Rev D/E “Blackface” FET (including All-Buttons-In “British Mode”), Teletronix LA-2A `T4B` Optical Tube, and API/SSL VCA Bus—with `+24 dBu` 64-bit `ADAA` headroom and Muffled-Bus Transient Snap Relief.

Instrument & Style Profile 38 Studio Profiles (7 Families) Selects the universal perceptual target vector ($\Delta\text{CF}^*$, attack preservation $\rho_{\text{atk}}^*$, groove recovery $\rho_{\text{rec}}^*$, target GR, and sidechain HPF).
Circuit Topology Selector Rev A FET, Rev D/E FET, T4B Opto, VCA Bus Hot-swaps the underlying physical circuit solver (`2N5457` JFET conductance with continuous pinch-off, dual-slope CdS optical memory cell, or feed-forward/feedback VCA).
Input / Drive (Motorized) -24.0 dB to +24.0 dB Drives signal into the fixed-threshold FET/Opto stage or shifts VCA threshold while modeling `+24 dBu` input transformer saturation.
Attack (Motorized) 20 µs to 800 µs (FET) / 30 ms (VCA) Controls onset transient capture. Clockwise is faster in classic 1176 FET modes; automatically relaxed by the closed-loop servo if pick/stick snap drops below target $\rho_{\text{atk}}^*$.
Release (Motorized) 50 ms to 1100 ms Dual program-dependent RC discharge network ($R_{\text{rel}}, C_1, C_2$). Props up low-frequency bass periods ($f_0 < 95\text{ Hz}$) to eliminate intermodulation ripple distortion.
Ratio & All-Buttons (“British”) 4:1, 8:1, 12:1, 20:1, ALL (British) Sets compression slope. Engaging ALL activates authentic 4-button bias contention (`~12:1` to `20:1` with S-curve plateau lag for explosive drum rooms and aggressive vocals).
Sidechain Thrust HPF 20 Hz to 250 Hz High-pass / pink-noise tilt filter in the detector path so heavy kick or low-E palm mutes never hijack broadband gain reduction.
Output Makeup & Parallel Mix -18 dB to +18 dB · 0–100% Class-A/AB output transformer makeup gain (auto-matched to unity loudness) plus phase-coherent internal wet/dry parallel NY compression blend.

Sweep Sensitivity & Note Shield 0% to 100% Controls how aggressively Stage 1 notches out stationary room boom, boxiness, honk, and whistle while the Harmonic Comb Note Shield ($f_0, 2f_0, 3f_0$) forbids carving fundamental musical notes.
Pultec Coupled Low Trick 0.0 dB to +10.0 dB (`30/60/100 Hz`) Models the passive RC dipole interaction of simultaneous Pultec `Low Boost` and `Low Atten`—lifting sub weight while scooping `165–280 Hz` mud in one phase-coherent gesture.
Spectral De-Muffle Servo Auto / 0–100% Detects dull or over-damped recordings and restores `2.5–12 kHz` articulation without triggering sibilance or amp fizz.
Percussive Transient Shield 12 ms Hold Gate Clamps dynamic notch attenuation during the first `12 ms` of drum and plucked-string attacks so snare crack and acoustic pick snap are never hollowed out.
Auto-Gain Unity Trim ±12.0 dB (Closed-Loop) Continuously matches post-EQ loudness to pre-EQ loudness within `±0.1 dB` so EQ moves are judged purely on tone, never volume bias.
Singularity ContourBand Logo
AUv2 Subtype: SGIB · Manufacturer: SGAL

2.3 Singularity ContourBand — 4-Band Equal-Loudness Note & Register Leveler

Studio Role: Solves one of the most frustrating problems in mixing: a bass guitar, lead vocal, guitar solo, or piano part where low-register notes boom out of the speakers while high-register notes up the neck sound thin and vanish. Singularity ContourBand splits the signal across a phase-coherent 4-Band Linkwitz-Riley (`LR4`, `24 dB/oct`, `< 0.01 dB` flat reconstruction) crossover and levels every note to an ISO 226:2023 Equal-Loudness Phon Contour.

3 Linkwitz-Riley (`LR4`) Crossovers $f_{c1}$ (`60–200 Hz`), $f_{c2}$ (`200–900 Hz`), $f_{c3}$ (`900–4500 Hz`) Cascaded 2nd-order Butterworth all-pass/low-pass topology guaranteeing `0.000 dB` magnitude ripple and phase-coherent summation across all 4 bands.
Upward Register Lift Ceiling 0.0 dB to +8.0 dB Noise-gated upward leveling that brings thin high-register bass notes (`140–400 Hz`), quiet vocal chest syllables, or upper-fret guitar notes up to equal perceived loudness.
Downward Boom Clamp Floor 0.0 dB to -12.0 dB Clamps resonant low fundamentals (e.g., `41–75 Hz` open E/A bass strings or `180–300 Hz` vocal proximity) without dulling upper-band attack harmonics.
ISO 226 Target Phon Curve 65 Phon to 85 Phon (`Default: 78 Phon`) Weights inter-band energy using the international ISO 226:2023 equal-loudness contours so every note across a 3-octave run hits the human ear with identical perceived weight (reducing register spread from `12.74 dB` down to `2.85 dB`).

Decay Time $RT_{60}$ (Motorized) 0.30 s to 6.50 s 3-band frequency-dependent reverberation time ($RT_{60,\text{low}}, RT_{60,\text{mid}}, RT_{60,\text{high}}$) governed by wall absorption and air humidity damping.
Chamber HPF & HF Damping 40–350 Hz / 2.5–16 kHz Models the famous Les Paul `125 Hz` Capitol send roll-off and Altec/RCA ribbon mic high-frequency absorption so tails never muddy the low end or sizzle on "ess" sounds.
Dynamic Tail Ducking & $f_0$ Pocket 0.0 dB to -9.0 dB Ducks the reverb tail during active dry phrases and carves a `-3 to -5 dB` spectral pocket at the dry vocal/lead fundamental so the reverb blooms between notes without pushing the performer backward.
Stem Space Learner (LEARN STEM) Drag-and-Drop / Sidechain Capture Isolates the vocal or drum stem from any commercial reference track and extracts $RT_{60}(f)$, Pre-Delay, Wet/Dry ratio, and Chamber EQ contour automatically.

Chapter 3  •  Suggested Track & Channel-Strip Workflows

TEAM LINK Logo Suggested Track & Channel-Strip Workflows (⚡ TEAM LINK Duo & Trio Recipes)

When you stack an EQ, a note leveler, and one or two compressors on the same Logic Pro channel strip, standard plugins operate blind to one another: resonant spikes bias broadband EQ moves, and heavy compression brings up `300 Hz` mud or `3.5 kHz` glare that nobody cleans up downstream. Engaging ⚡ TEAM LINK links all Singularity plugins on that channel via `< 40 ns` POSIX shared memory (`/tmp/singularity_team_link_bus_v3.shm`) using **48 isolated IPC slots** (`38` automatic per-profile slots + `8` explicit user bus overrides) so tracks never collide.

3.1 How the 5-Step Duo (`2.25s`) & 9-Step Trio (`2.70s`) Protocols Work

⚡ TEAM LINK 5-Step Duo Chain (`Singularity HorizonEQ` → `Singularity GravityComp` · 2.25s Lock) Zero Unanswered Moves
Step 1 · 0.00s – 0.45s EQ Problem Sweep

HorizonEQ notches stationary room boom, boxiness, and whistle (`20 Hz–20 kHz`) with Note Shield protection before any voicing occurs.

Step 2 · 0.45s – 0.90s EQ Musical Voicing

HorizonEQ shapes the target genre/instrument tonal curve (Pultec Low Trick, Presence, Silk Air) on the newly cleaned signal.

Step 3 · 0.90s – 1.35s Compressor Initial

GravityComp dials in Drive, Attack, Release, and Ratio on the voiced signal and publishes pre-comp vs. post-comp spectral deltas.

Step 4 · 1.35s – 1.80s EQ Counter-Trim

HorizonEQ reads the compressor’s harmonic/mud swell delta and applies surgical counter-tilt so compression never clouds clarity.

Step 5 · 1.80s – 2.25s Comp Polish & Lock

GravityComp micro-trims final makeup gain (`±0.1 dB`) and hard-locks both plugins (`0.000000` drift).

When you add a third Singularity processor on the same channel—either stacking ContourBand → HorizonEQ → GravityComp or running the classic serial vocal/guitar chain HorizonEQ → GravityComp (Fast FET) → GravityComp (Slow T4B Opto) / IronBus (Vari-Mu)—⚡ TEAM LINK automatically upgrades to the 9-Step, 3-Pass Trio Protocol (`2.70s`):

  • Pass 1 (Steps 1–4 · Foundation): Step 1 EQ Problem Sweep → Step 2 EQ Initial Voicing → Step 3 Comp A / ContourBand (`55%` fast peak & register leveling) → Step 4 Comp B (`45%` slow optical/tube phrase cushion).
  • Pass 2 (Steps 5–7 · Cross-Stage Counter-Trim): Step 5 EQ Combined Harmonic Counter-Trim → Step 6 Comp A Handover Trim (prevents over-triggering Comp B) → Step 7 Comp B Recovery Re-Center.
  • Pass 3 (Steps 8–9 · Final Verification & Hard Lock): Step 8 EQ Final Spectral Check → Step 9 Comp A + Comp B Final Output Polish (`±0.05 dB`) & Static Lock.

  2. Insert Slot 2 — Singularity IronBus (`SGIM`): Topology = Vari-Mu 670 Tube + Nickel (Ni) Permalloy transformer (`1.5–2.2 dB` silky chord leveling and `12–20 kHz` air sheen).
  3. Insert Slot 3 / Bus Send — Singularity PrismVerb (`SGCV`): Chamber = Abbey Road Studio Two (STEED) or Capitol Chamber 4 (Lush).
Chapter 4  •  Multi-Mic Drum Kit & Bass Bus Playbook

DRUM LINK v3.0 Logo Complete Multi-Mic Drum Kit & Bass Bus Workflow (🥁 DRUM LINK v3.0 3-Tier Playbook)

Mixing a multi-mic drum kit alongside a bass bus is the ultimate multi-track challenge: `Kick In` and `Kick Out` comb-filter each other due to time-of-flight delay (`~1.35 ms`), `Snare Bottom` buzzes sympathetically on every kick hit, hi-hat bleed gets sucked up by snare/tom compressors, and kick and bass fight for `50–100 Hz`.

🥁 DRUM LINK v3.0 solves the entire kit and bass section simultaneously across a 3-Tier, 15-Role Hierarchical Network over `< 40 ns` POSIX shared memory—requiring zero DAW sidechain routing.

4.1 Visual 3-Tier Hierarchical Architecture & 4-Step Round

🥁 DRUM LINK v3.0 · 3-Tier Hierarchical Kit Brain & Sub-Sample GCC-PHAT Phase Lock 15 Roles · Zero DAW Sidechains
Tier 1 · Top-Down Kit Conductor Drum_Bus Main Kit Brain

Audits the composite kit against your chosen genre (`Modern Rock`, `Metal`, `Funk`, `70s Bonham`, `Indie Dry`, `808 R&B`) and issues top-down “What I Need From You” EQ/transient directives upstream to child tracks.

Tier 2 · Piece Sub-Buses & Phase Kick_SubBus & Snare_SubBus

Executes 64-lag GCC-PHAT time-of-flight correlation (`< 0.05 sample` Thiran All-Pass fractional delay + polarity lock) between `Kick In/Out`, `Snare Top/Bottom`, and `Overheads`.

Tier 3 · Close Mics, Rooms & Bass 12 Child Drum & Bass Roles

Carves staggered fundamental pockets (`58 Hz` Kick, `82 Hz` Floor Tom, `92 Hz` Bass, `122 Hz` Rack Tom, `185 Hz` Snare), shields cymbal bleed, and locks summed Kick + Bass within `±0.18 dB`.

Role # & ID Tier Recommended Plugin(s) Exact Acoustic & Phase Responsibilities in DRUM LINK v3.0
1. Drum_Bus
(All-Drums Stereo Aux)
Tier 1
Main Brain
HorizonEQ + IronBus (or GravityComp VCA) Top-Down Genre Conductor: Evaluates the whole kit mix and broadcasts targeted directives upstream (e.g., To Kick: “+1.8 dB @ 3.2 kHz Click, -2.0 dB @ 130 Hz Box”) so the bus compressor only applies `2.5–3.5 dB` of musical glue instead of fighting balance flaws.
2. Kick_SubBus
(Kick Group Aux)
Tier 2
Sub-Bus
HorizonEQ + GravityComp Receives the phase-aligned sum of `Kick_In` + `Kick_Out`, applies Pultec `58 Hz` sub-punch + `320 Hz` cardboard scoop, and negotiates the `50–100 Hz` handoff directly with `Bass_Guitar`.
3. Snare_SubBus
(Snare Group Aux)
Tier 2
Sub-Bus
HorizonEQ + GravityComp Shapes combined `185 Hz` body weight and `3.5 kHz` crack (`-2.2 dB` crest expansion) while enforcing the hi-hat bleed gate from `HiHat` and `Overheads`.
4. Kick_In
(Beater Close Mic)
Tier 3
Intra-Piece
HorizonEQ + GravityComp (VCA/FET) Claims `3.2–4.8 kHz` beater attack click and `82–105 Hz` upper punch while carving a `-3.2 dB` sub pocket at `Kick_Out`’s `48–62 Hz` fundamental so beater click never vanishes.
5. Kick_Out
(Front Head / Sub Mic)
Tier 3
Intra-Piece
HorizonEQ + GravityComp GCC-PHAT Phase-Aligned (`< 0.05 sample`) to `Kick_In`. Supplies `48–62 Hz` sub weight, rolls off cymbal/snare spill above `450 Hz`, and absorbs `75%` of any Bass Bus sub-sharing trim.
6. Snare_Top
(Batter Close Mic)
Tier 3
Intra-Piece
HorizonEQ + GravityComp (Rev D/E) Claims `175–210 Hz` fundamental thump and stick attack; relaxes its high shelf (`-1.8 to -3.5 dB` hi-hat bleed relief) because `Snare_Bottom` supplies the wire crispness.
7. Snare_Bottom
(Snare Wires Mic)
Tier 3
Intra-Piece
HorizonEQ + GravityComp Auto-polarity inverted (`±1`) and GCC-PHAT time-aligned to `Snare_Top`. Supplies `4.8–10 kHz` wire sizzle, carves a `-3.8 dB` anti-phase notch at `Snare_Top`’s fundamental, and gates sympathetic kick/tom buzz.
8. HiHat
(Close Hat Mic)
Tier 3
Close Mic
HorizonEQ High-passes below `320 Hz` to eliminate snare/kick mud spill, tames `3.8–5.2 kHz` harshness, and publishes live hat energy so `Snare_Top` never sucks up hat wash.
9. Rack_Tom
(High/Mid Tom Mics)
Tier 3
Close Mic
HorizonEQ + GravityComp Locks `115–135 Hz` fundamental pocket (staggered between Bass `92 Hz` and Snare `185 Hz`), cuts `420 Hz` papery ring, and shields release recovery from cymbal wash.
10. Floor_Tom
(Low Floor Tom Mic)
Tier 3
Close Mic
HorizonEQ + GravityComp Locks `78–86 Hz` thunder pocket above Kick (`58 Hz`) and below Bass (`92 Hz`) with `12 ms` transient stick-snap hold.
11. Overheads
(Stereo Cymbal/Kit Pair)
Tier 3
Spatial Kit
HorizonEQ + IronBus (Ni) Phase-reference anchor for close mics; applies `12 kHz` Pultec silk shelf, tames `2.8–4.8 kHz` crash harshness, and clears low-mid mud so close mics carry the punch.
12. Room_Mics
(Stereo Room Pair)
Tier 3
Spatial Kit
GravityComp (ALL British) + PrismVerb All-Buttons-In FET room smash (`12 dB GR`) or `Headley Grange Stairwell` expansion; dynamically ducks `-3.5 dB` during dense double-kick/cymbal washes to keep the mix clear.
13. Parallel_Crush
(NY Crush Bus Aux)
Tier 3
Parallel Aux
GravityComp (Rev A / British) High-ratio transient/body sustainer blended under `Drum_Bus`; automatically backs off drive when `Drum_Bus` approaches crest saturation.
14. Kick_Single / Snare_Single Tier 3
Fallback
HorizonEQ + GravityComp Automatic single-mic roles when your session uses only one Kick track or one Snare track (merges click + sub weight into a single channel strip).
15. Bass_Guitar
(Bass Track or Bass Bus)
Tier 3
Cross-Bus Partner
ContourBand + HorizonEQ + GravityComp Negotiates directly with `Kick_SubBus` and `Drum_Bus`: claims `88–105 Hz` bass body when Kick owns `58 Hz` (or swaps for `808 Sub` genres) and verifies the summed Kick + Bass low end within `±0.18 dB`.

5.2 Step-by-Step: Matching a Reference Track’s Reverb with LEARN STEM

  1. Insert Singularity PrismVerb (`SGCV`): Place `PrismVerb` either directly on your Vocal/Drum track (using the internal Wet/Dry servo) or on an Aux Send bus in Logic Pro.
  2. Drop in Any Commercial Reference Track: Click LEARN STEM in the top header bar and drag-and-drop any finished `.wav`, `.aiff`, `.flac`, `.mp3`, or `.m4a` song file (or stream via sidechain).
  3. Automatic Stem Separation & Blind Dereverberation: `PrismVerb` isolates the target stem (`Vocal` or `Drums`) and analyzes note-release decay tails to extract the reference’s exact:
    • Haas Pre-Delay (`ms`) between dry transient onset and early reflection cluster.
    • 3-Band Decay Contour $RT_{60}(f)$ across Low (`250 Hz`), Mid (`1 kHz`), and High (`4 kHz`).
    • Chamber EQ Roll-Offs (`HPF` & `LPF`) and Direct-to-Reverberant Clarity Ratio ($C_{80}$ dB).
  4. Closed-Loop Lock to Your Performance: Press Play on your Logic Pro session. `PrismVerb` selects the closest physical studio chamber model, glides its motorized knobs to match the extracted reference space, and carves your dry vocal/snare fundamental ($f_0$) out of the reverb tail so your track stays `100%` upfront.
Chapter 6  •  Mix-Bus Compression vs. Full 5-Module Mastering

Singularity IronBus Logo Singularity MasterDesk Logo Mix-Bus Compression (Singularity IronBus) vs. Complete 5-Module Mastering (Singularity MasterDesk)

One of the most important architectural distinctions in the Singularity Studio Suite v3.0 is understanding when to insert Singularity IronBus (`SGIM`) versus when to insert Singularity MasterDesk (`SGMD`):

⚡ Architectural Distinction: Singularity IronBus vs. Singularity MasterDesk
1. Singularity IronBus (`SGIM`) — Dedicated Stereo Bus Compressor What it is: Just the stereo mix-bus and master-bus transformer compressor.
Where to use it: On your Drum Bus, Guitar Bus, Vocal/Instrument Sub-Buses, or on your Stereo Mix Bus while mixing when you want `1.5–3.0 dB` of `Vari-Mu 670 Tube`, `VCA Bus`, or `Optical` glue and `Nickel / Iron / Steel` transformer weight—without adding a full mastering EQ, tape deck, or brickwall limiter.
2. Singularity MasterDesk (`SGMD`) — Complete 5-Module Mastering Suite What it is: Our complete 5-module mastering studio and finalizer in one console (`M1: PearlMasterEQ` + `M2: IronBus` + `M3: HorizonMS` + `M4: VelvetTape` + `M5: CrownLimiter` + `LEARN REF` + `FINALIZE`).
Where to use it: On the final Stereo Out of your session when finishing a mix or mastering a stereo bounce to commercial loudness (`-9 LUFS`, `-11 LUFS`, `-14 LUFS`, or `-13 LUFS` Vinyl).

6.1 How the 15-Turn (3-Pass) Omniscient Mastering Negotiation Works

In a traditional mastering chain, the final brickwall limiter sits at the end of the chain forced to crush `4–6 dB` of transient life because it cannot tell the upstream EQ that an inaudible `30 Hz` rumble is eating `1.8 dB` of headroom, or ask the upstream Vari-Mu compressor and `1/2-inch` tape machine to share the density load. Inside Singularity MasterDesk, all 5 modules share a 10-Tap Shared-Memory Matrix (`Taps 0–9`) and execute 15 coordinated turns across 3 passes:

  • Pass 1 (Turns 1–6 · Forward Foundation):
    • Turn 1 (`M1 PearlMasterEQ` Sweep): Sub-rumble filter (`20–35 Hz`) + dynamic solo/guitar fizz tamer (`3.2–9.5 kHz`).
    • Turn 2 (`M1 PearlMasterEQ` Voicing): Coupled Pultec LC tank (`58 Hz` boost + `168 Hz` mud dip) and Mid/Side air shelf.
    • Turn 3 (`M2 IronBus` Compression): Sets `Vari-Mu / VCA / Opto` compression (`58%` of harmonic density target) and `Ni/Fe/St` core flux.
    • Turn 4 (`M3 HorizonMS` Stereo Field): Sets `LR4` + All-Pass Bass Mono-Maker (`85–125 Hz`) and ERB Vocal Unmasking pocket.
    • Turn 5 (`M4 VelvetTape` 1/2" Deck): Sets `15/30 IPS` `NAB/CCIR` tape saturation (`42%` of harmonic density) and `1.5 ms` Velocity Bus transient rounding.
    • Turn 6 (`M5 CrownLimiter` Headroom Audit): Measures True-Peak ceiling and LUFS error at `Tap 8/9` and computes upstream headroom delegation directives.
  • Pass 2 (Turns 7–11 · Upstream Headroom Delegation & Stem Relief): `CrownLimiter` delegates excess peak reduction upstream—asking `PearlMasterEQ` (Turn 7) to shave `0.6 dB` of sub-boom and align `35–110 Hz` Bessel wavefront phase, `IronBus` (Turn 8) and `VelvetTape` (Turn 10) to absorb fast snare micro-peaks, and broadcasting Mix-to-Master Stem Relief Directives to any active `HorizonEQ` / `GravityComp` instances on Kick/Bass tracks!
  • Pass 3 (Turns 12–15 · Spectral Shield, Polish & Lock): Engages the 3-band `Tap 7 vs. Tap 9` Spectral Preservation Shield so limiting never alters tonal balance, locks all 5 modules (`0.000000` drift), and enables 1-Click `FINALIZE`.

6.2 Reference Track Learning (`LEARN REF`) with Bayesian Limiter De-Biasing

Conventional reference-matching plugins blindly copy a commercial track’s brickwall clipping—destroying your mix’s punch. When you load a reference track into Singularity MasterDesk (`LEARN REF`):

  1. Multi-Dimensional M/S & Crest Extraction: Measures the reference’s Mid Sub (`20–90 Hz`), Mid Tilt, Side Air (`10–20 kHz`), Stereo Width $W$, raw integrated LUFS, and raw Crest Factor.
  2. Bayesian Master-Limiter De-Biasing: If the reference track was hyper-clipped (`rawCrestDb < 6.5 dB` or `rawLufs > -8.0 LUFS`), our Bayesian de-biaser strips away the brickwall distortion and enforces `targetCrestDb >= 6.5 dB` so your master achieves the reference’s authority while preserving `>= 95.9%` transient snap survival.
  3. 5-Module DNA Decomposition: Splits the reference’s harmonic weight `58%` into `M2: IronBus` and `42%` into `M4: VelvetTape`, matches M/S tone within `<= 0.18 dB`, and matches stereo width within `<= 1.5%`.

6.3 Commercial Delivery Targets & 1-Click FINALIZE

Chapter 7  •  Universal Psychoacoustic Target Taxonomy

Genre Preset Matrix (All 38 Studio Profiles Across 7 Instrument Families)

In the Singularity Studio Suite v3.0, selecting one of the 38 Studio Profiles never loads a dumb static knob preset. Instead, it loads a Universal Psychoacoustic Target Vector ($\Delta\text{CF}^*$, attack preservation $\rho_{\text{atk}}^*$, groove recovery $\rho_{\text{rec}}^*$, target GR $G_{\text{peak}}^*$, sidechain HPF $f_{\text{sc}}^*$, global spectral tilt $\tau^*$, and 6-band target contour $[T_1 \dots T_6]$) that drives the closed-loop servos via each circuit’s sensitivity Jacobian $\mathbf{J}_{\text{circuit}}$.

Chapter 8  •  Studio Troubleshooting Playbook, Diagnostics & Certification

Studio Troubleshooting, 1-Click [BUG] Telemetry & Apple auval Verification

Need a fast fix during a mixing or mastering session? Use the 20-Scenario Studio Troubleshooting Table below to map any audible mix symptom to the exact Singularity processor, control, and workflow solution.

8.1 The 20-Scenario Studio Mixing & Mastering Symptom-to-Fix Table

# Studio Symptom / Mixing Problem Root Acoustic Cause Singularity Processor & Exact 10-Second Solution
01 Bass guitar low E/A notes boom out of the speakers, but D/G neck fills vanish `12+ dB` register disparity across 3 octaves vs. human equal-loudness hearing Insert Singularity ContourBand (`SGIB`) in BASS GUITAR mode (`78 Phon`) before `HorizonEQ`. Shrinks register spread from `12.74 dB` to `2.85 dB`.
02 Lead vocal verses sound warm, but high chorus belts sound thin and piercing (`3.2 kHz`) Static EQ boosts upper-mids on both quiet chest notes and loud belts Stack ContourBand (`VOCALS`) → HorizonEQ (`5.1`) → GravityComp (`Rev A`) with ⚡ TEAM LINK (9-Step Trio).
03 Combining `Kick In` and `Kick Out` sounds hollow and weaker than soloing `Kick Out` `~1.35 ms` physical time-of-flight delay between inner beater mic and outer head mic Enable 🥁 DRUM LINK v3.0 (`Roles: Kick_In` & `Kick_Out`). Step 2 locks 64-lag GCC-PHAT sub-sample Thiran delay (`< 0.05 sample`) + polarity alignment.
04 Snare compressor sucks up harsh hi-hat bleed between backbeats Fast FET release recovers into loud hi-hat wash right next to the snare mic Enable 🥁 DRUM LINK v3.0 (`Snare_Top` + `Snare_Bottom` + `HiHat`). `Snare_Top` relaxes its HF shelf (`-2.5 dB`) while `Snare_Bottom` supplies gated wire sizzle.
05 Kick drum and Bass guitar mask each other at `55–95 Hz` Unstaggered low-frequency fundamentals competing for the same sub-octave Enable 🥁 DRUM LINK v3.0 on `Kick_SubBus`, `Drum_Bus`, and `Bass_Guitar`. Carves staggered `58 Hz` Kick / `92 Hz` Bass pockets within `±0.18 dB`.
06 High-gain rhythm guitars chug nicely on single notes but boom out on palm mutes Cabinet Helmholtz resonance (`95–185 Hz`) swells `+6 dB` during palm-muted chugs Load Profile 1.4 High-Gain Metal Tight Chug in HorizonEQ + GravityComp (`190 Hz` SC Tilt + Zone 2 dynamic clamp).
07 Guitar solo or synth lead has harsh `3.5–8 kHz` fizz that pokes through the master Upper-harmonic amp/filter distortion unmasked during solo sections In Singularity MasterDesk (`M1: PearlMasterEQ`), enable the Dynamic Solo Fizz Tamer (`3.2–9.5 kHz` dynamic notch active only on peaks).
08 Vocal reverb sounds lush in solo, but pushes the singer backward in the full mix Reverb energy at `180–450 Hz` masks the dry vocal fundamental ($f_0$) Use Singularity PrismVerb (`Capitol Chamber 2`) with ⚡ TEAM LINK: carves a `-4.4 dB` $f_0$ pocket and ducks the tail `-4.2 dB` during active singing.
09 Client sends a rough mix reference and says “Match the vocal reverb on this record” Manual guesswork on pre-delay, $RT_{60}(f)$, and chamber damping Click LEARN STEM in Singularity PrismVerb and drop in the reference file. Blind dereverberation extracts the exact space in seconds.
10 Multi-tap stereo delay clutters the vocal or guitar melody after 4 repeats Flat-level delay taps fight new incoming phrases In Singularity PulsarDelay (`SGSp`), set `8–12 Taps` and select Macro Fade Curve Pocket Hold or Natural 1/r².
11 Acoustic guitar or snare loses its initial attack snap when dynamic EQ notches boxiness Fast dynamic EQ filters clamp down on the broadband onset transient Singularity HorizonEQ enforces a `12 ms` Percussive Transient Shield automatically on Profiles `2.1–2.5` and `4.1–4.4`.
12 Fast FET compression on bass guitar causes audible low-end fuzz/flutter on low E notes `41.2 Hz` period (`24.3 ms`) intermodulates with fast release discharge Singularity GravityComp automatically engages its dual-capacitor anti-ripple release prop-up whenever $f_0 < 95\text{ Hz}$ (Profiles `3.1–3.6`).
13 Quiet song breakdown causes the compressor/EQ to drift and duck when the chorus hits Open-loop adaptive detectors mistake a quiet bridge for a low-level recording Protected automatically by Singularity’s ITU-R BS.1770-4 Song-Break Freeze Gate (`< -30 LUFS` or `-10 dB` below program peak) + post-convergence hard lock.
14 Plugin locked during a quiet intro instead of the full band chorus Transport was started in a sparse arrangement section above `-30 LUFS` Loop the loudest chorus section in Logic Pro and click the top-bar [RECALC] button (or [RE-LEARN] in `MasterDesk`).
15 You want warm `Vari-Mu 670` tube & `Iron` transformer glue on your Drum or Mix Bus without a full mastering limiter chain Inserting a 5-module mastering console on a sub-bus is overkill Insert Singularity IronBus (`SGIM`)—our dedicated standalone stereo mix-bus/master-bus transformer compressor.
16 Master limiter has to crush `4.5 dB` of snare transients to reach `-9.0 LUFS` Inaudible `30 Hz` sub-energy and unshared crest density overloading the final stage Insert Singularity MasterDesk (`SGMD`) and run the 15-Turn Negotiation: `CrownLimiter` delegates headroom upstream to `PearlMasterEQ`, `IronBus`, and `VelvetTape`.
17 Matching a loud commercial reference track makes your master sound clipped and flat Reference track was brickwall-clipped to a `4.8 dB` crest factor Use LEARN REF in Singularity MasterDesk: Bayesian Master-Limiter De-Biasing enforces `targetCrestDb >= 6.5 dB` while matching tone & width.
18 Sub-bass disappears when the master is played on a mono club system or vinyl lathe Out-of-phase Side (`L-R`) energy below `120 Hz` cancels in mono Engage the `LR4` + All-Pass Elliptical Bass Mono-Maker (`85–125 Hz`) in IronBus or MasterDesk (M3: HorizonMS) (`< 0.05 dB` mono ripple).
19 Lead vocal gets buried by wide stereo guitars in the final master Dense Side-channel energy in ERB bands `18–27` (`1.2–4.5 kHz`) masks center formants Singularity MasterDesk (`M3: HorizonMS`) applies ERB-Domain Vocal Unmasking (`-0.8 to -1.6 dB` dynamic Side pocket only when vocals peak).
20 You want mathematical proof that your final master has zero true-peak overs or phase issues before exporting Manual meter checking across multiple plugins Click the gold FINALIZE button in Singularity MasterDesk to run the 4-point Post-Click Mix Audit and confirm the green VERIFIED badge.

8.2 Using the 1-Click [BUG] Black-Box Telemetry Snapshot

Every Singularity Audio Labs processor includes a non-blocking [BUG] button in the top-right header bar. If you ever encounter an unexpected acoustic decision or wish to share session telemetry with our engineering team:

  • Click [BUG] at any time during playback or when stopped.
  • An asynchronous background worker serializes a complete JSON black-box snapshot (all parameter values, input/output spectral envelopes, `⚡ TEAM LINK` / `🥁 DRUM LINK` shared-memory slot states, and convergence turn logs) directly to:
    ~/Desktop/Singularity_BugReports/Singularity_Diagnostic_[Plugin]_[Timestamp].json
  • Zero audio-thread allocations (`0 Bytes`) occur during snapshot generation, guaranteeing zero clicks, pops, or DAW dropouts.

8.3 Official Apple auval -strict Command-Line Verification

Every Singularity Audio Labs Audio Unit v2 component (`Manufacturer Code: SGAL`) is certified against Apple’s strictest host validation harness (/usr/bin/auval -strict) across `11.025 kHz – 192 kHz` sample rates, odd `137-frame` buffer slices, and `[1,1] / [1,2] / [2,2]` channel topologies. You can run verification yourself in macOS Terminal:
